A special collaboration between Amazon Music’s Rotation, pgLang, and Free Lunch is set to live stream Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out – Ken and Friends event for Juneteenth 2024. This means that someone pretty high up on the corporate ladder of Amazon is listening to the desires of #TeamKendrick. Scheduled for 4pm PST and coming live from Inglewood,  California, the sold-out concert promises an opportunity to embark upon a global celebration of Juneteenth. This fairly new federally recognized day commemorates the emancipation of the last known enslaved Black Americans alerted in the state of Texas on June 19, 1865.

Cue The Culture’s parent company, Quartermain Media had the pleasure of creating a series of Black History month strategies for Twitch during 2021 when some of their Black Creators expressed concern about the platform’s treatment of Black Creators who were experiencing racism from the community. Amazon’s involvement and connection with Kendrick Lamar and his audience shines a global light on what will be a historic moment for a true Black music influence(r) of today and the entire Twitch creator community. By live streaming on Twitch, a platform known for its vibrant community of creators, including musicians, DJs, artists, and more can share their art and talent with a community of millions, and connect with their most passionate fans, the concert becomes more than just a performance—it becomes a shared experience. Viewers from around the world can tune in, creating a virtual gathering where music enthusiasts, fans of Kendrick Lamar, and advocates for social equality for Black Americans can come together.

This partnership underscores the power of digital platforms to amplify cultural moments and promote inclusivity. Juneteenth’s significance as a day of freedom and reflection resonates deeply, and Amazon and Twitch’s decision to broadcast the event ensures that its message reaches far and wide. It’s a testament to the evolving landscape of entertainment and how technology can bridge geographical boundaries, making impactful cultural events accessible to a global audience.

Moreover, by choosing Kendrick Lamar, a critically acclaimed artist known for his insightful lyrics and cultural influence, as the focal point, the concert promises not only entertainment but also a platform for important conversations about history, identity, and social change.

In essence, Amazon Music and Twitch’s collaboration to live stream Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out – Ken and Friends event on Juneteenth is a powerful example of how technology can foster connection, celebrate cultural heritage, and amplify voices that resonate beyond borders.

Fans, friends, and foes can tune into the event for free by heading to the Amazon Music Twitch channel beginning at 4:00 PM PT on June 19th 2024.
